Well now that I have a free weekend, I'm going to the gun show on Saturday. It's the last big show of the season. December, January and Feb. are the biggest shows out here. That's one thing I love about Arizona, we love our guns. As much a people like to use that as a reason for us being the "wild west", we really don't have a lot of problems out here, at least no more or less than anywhere else. Yes, it's true, you can openly walk around with a gun in your holster and it's legal as long as it is out in the open. But you really don't see it much. I think you don't see it much because it makes you an open target. It's much better to carry concealed because it gives you a tactical advantage. Although, I suppose the case could be made that if you show you are wearing a gun, people will leave you alone. But if you should ever have to use that gun, you've lost the element of surprise.
I guess the question you may have is, do I carry a gun? I'll never tell. You would never know it if I was carrying and that's exactly the type of advantage I'm talking about. To do it effectively (FYI-I was a certified concealed carry trainer in MN) you need to carry in such a way that a gun is accessible and hidden so no one would know. That means you don't carry a cannon and it means you don't say anything dumb like "make my day". It also means that for safety sake, you should always be shooting your gun on a regular basis. If you are one of those people who buy a gun, put it in your glove compartment and never use it; don't bother getting a gun.
It's funny, there are people on the left who only think the only reason people have a gun is to kill someone. What a crock of crap! Yes, people can and do use them for self defense, but the main reason people have guns is because they are FUN! People on the left will never understand that.
