Will the Cubs stay in Mesa?

Well, the Chicago Cubs have been a fixture in Mesa for some time now. They always lead the Cactus League in attendance. They bring in a lot of money to the city. Well, the Cubs lease is up and (surprise) they want a new stadium. So one of the solutions is to impose an 8 percent ticket tax on ALL Cactus League games to help pay for the new stadium for the Cubs. They also would tax rental cars too. Anyway, this is an unfair Bill and I'm not sure it will get passed by the state. As much as I'd like to see the Cubs stay, it seems to me since the City of Mesa benefits the most, they should pick up the entire tab to build a new stadium. Right now the City of Mesa is on board to pay quite a bit for the stadium but they are looking for this legislation to fill in the gaps. If this legislation does not pass, I think you will see the Cubs move to Florida. I hope they leave so that Mesa will start to recruit teams from Florida, like the Twins, to have spring training here. I think I'll start a campaign to dump the Cubs and bring in the Twins.
