Kinda different for me...but...

You may not have noticed but since I've moved to Arizona, I have not got involved in the local political scene. Not that I don't get invited to stuff and I did go to two social events where I got to meet the governor. But that's really all I've done. Why would someone who was the GOP District Chair for Scott and Carver Counties and a Minnesota State GOP Delegate not get involved? Well, a mix of things. After being so involved for so many years, I needed a break. With my job situation being so fluid, I really didn't have the regular blocks of time I could devote to it. Plus all the travel and weird hours just made me too unreliable. If I can't jump into it with both feet, I shouldn't get involved because I don't like disappointing people. Have you ever said "Yes" to a good cause when you know in your heart you wanted to say "No" and then end up doing a poor job? That's why it's always better to say "No" in the first place unless you totally commit to the project. I've also come to the conclusion that my time is best spent focusing on my job and Show Biz Photo. Plus living out in Arizona, it's hard to have the desire to be cooped up in meetings all the time. Believe it or not, there was a time when I was attending seven board meetings a month. So for now, I'm content to just show up for a few social functions to get to know my fellow Republicans and that's about it. Of course I still have my blog and Facebook if I feel the need for a political discussion.
