This is THE WEEKEND TO REMEMBER in Minnesota

Yes folks, it's that time of year again, the bigger and better Corn Capitol Days celebration in Olivia, Minnesota.
If ever you wondered why I tell corny jokes, it's because I'm from the Corn Capitol.  Plus I've worked in the corn industry. When I was in 7th and 8th grades I did the character building job of corn detasseling. When I was in high school I worked for city in doing park maintenance. When I was in college I worked in a sweet corn canning factory where they made cream style corn. I even worked for the award-winning Olivia Times-Journal as a reporter/photographer. The photo here is of the Renville County Court House which was one block from my house. We used to play football on the front lawn before they planted all those trees. Last but not least, I got to take pictures of Olivia Newton-John when she flew in to ride a horse in the parade during Corn Capitol Days.  I remember proof reading a letter that my friend Dave Pederson wrote to Olivia Newton-John asking her to come and ride in the parade. It was a very corny letter and I just rolled my eyes thinking she would think we are real hicks. To my surprise, she accepted. And she was quoted as saying "I got such a kick out of the letter I had to come."
