Arizona Dan's Political Endorsement: US Senate: JD Hayworth

Separated at Birth?Image by Mike Licht, NotionsCapital.com via FlickrOkay, next Tuesday is the big day here in Arizona. We've got a race of national interest going on. Will it be Senator John McCain or former Arizona Congressman JD Hayworth? McCain has spent $20 Million dollars in ads against Hayworth. Yes, you heard that right...$20 Million. McCain has been quite effective in attacking, attacking and attacking Hayworth very effectively. So much so that he's built up a 20 point lead according to some poll. All I can say is, if only McCain would have been that aggressive against Obama. That's the problem. Time and time again, I've been let down by McCain and his liberal maverick jumps from one side to another. Hayworth is a flawed candidate. He's a blow hard, a huckster and has made some character mistakes. But as his ad says, "I will be a consistent conservative instead of a convenient concervative". I think he's right on that. Like him or not, he will be more consistently conservative than McCain. Yes I understand, if the Senate goes Republican, McCain would be the chairman of the Armed Services Committee. I'd like to see him there. But too often he has been a disappointment, one that we don't need if we are going to turn this nation around from "the new normal" and go back to "the old normal".
