Image via WikipediaAbout twice a year my tennis club has a "tennis mixer" were we all get together for food, mixed doubles, contests, prizes and racquet demos. It kinda like a customer appreciation time for everyone supporting the tennis center. Well, anyway, I ended up winning the hardest serve competition. Now granted it was cold out so we didn't have very many tennis players there. We had 40 tonight when last time we had 80. Had there been 80 people I doubt very much I would have won anything. There's a lot of good tennis players out here to say the least. Anyway, I won a visor, a hat, some grips and two t-shirts. A great haul, we had fun and got to meet some folks. Now out here, everyone plays at a tennis club of some sort. There are about 80 tennis clubs in the Valley, some public and some private. The city of Scottsdale has two tennis centers. One in North Scottsdale and one in South Scottsdale. I play out of the Indian School Park Tennis Center. Court time is $4 in the day and $8 in the evening. Not bad considering it was usually $12 to $18 in Minnesota. Now granted, I do have the option of going to the tennis courts at Scottsdale Community College which is free. I do play there. I have two tennis buddies and I like to play in the league where they match you up based on your ranking so you are not totally out matched. It costs to be at the tennis center but it really is a good deal. You get perfectly lighted courts and are guaranteed that you will be playing when you want to play. At free courts you just never know if you'll be able to get on them when you want. Anyway, I also want to say it was difficult playing in the cold. I'll take 100 degrees any day. As I've said before, I always play better in the heat.
