Tarantula Migration?

exuvia tarantula ventralImage via WikipediaThis may freak a few people out. I know some folks to live in the north mountain desert and they are told to keep the doors closed at their new house because in the fall there is a "tarantula migration" where the males search far and wide for a mate. In looking it up, Arizona is home to 30 species of tarantula, some with a leg span of 7".   I've never see one in the wild but in college a guy on my floor had one as a pet.  He always used to tell me their bite is no worse than a bee sting. But do you really want a big creepy spider close enough to be able to bite you?  Not me. I'm glad I live in the citified area of town were we don't really have creepy crawly things.
