Yard Sales

A laserdisc (left) compared with a DVD (right)...Image via WikipediaI always like to stop by yard sales. You just never know what you might find. For example today I ran into a place where the guy had a lot of cool collections. He had about 500 record albums in the acid-free plastic and the records were brand new...as in never played or handled. And that wasn't the best part. He had 1600 Laser Discs encased in plastic, never opened and a brand new laser disc player never opened. Someone from Ebay bought the entire lot. What a great find. For those of you who don't know what laser discs are, they came out about the same time as VHS and Beta Max tapes. At the time, laser discs were know to be the format that offered the best picture quality. They just  never won out over the more compact VHS format. The photo here shows the size of a laser disc compared to a dvd.
