My first Arizona political event.

Went to my first Arizona political event tonight. Met the Governor and the State Treasurer who will be running for Governor and a host of interesting people. As you may know, one of my hobbies is political consulting. Arizona is a good state for political consulting because we have term limits there are always a bunch of newbies who need help getting elected. I specialize in campaign management, media strategy, message, marketing and photography services. I am undefeated as a campaign manager and consultant (8-0). My only blemish was my own campaign and that doesn't count because I didn't have a manager.

Okay to complete my thought from yesterday. When I ran for Carver County Commissioner, I enjoyed doing election work, not sure I really enjoyed being "the candidate". As a campaign manager for someone else, I was always doing things behind the scenes and playing the political chess game. It's important that you be an objective set of eyes for the candidate. As the candidate, you need to be in front of the voters as much as possible. It's difficult to be objective on the front lines because running for office is such an intense, emotional and personal event. That's why it's so difficult to do both and that's why all campaigns need a manager.

Besides not having a manager, driving to downtown Minneapolis every day didn't help me get to know the people in my community of Chaska very well. I just didn't know enough people in my district to have a real impact. Also we had a record eight people in the primary which makes it harder to get your message across when eight other people are trying to do the same thing. Lastly, this seemed fishy to me. I guy by the name of Rosenberger entered the race and did not do any campaigning. Why would he do that? It's almost like he entered the race just to screw me up. It probably didn't happen that way but it makes me wonder. I wrote some pretty conservative columns in the Chaska Herald when I was their political writer so it wouldn't surprise me if they were trying to pay me back.
