Do we play it too safe in church?

I'm asking the above question because I met with someone who was on a mission trip in Costa Rica. In some churches the church goers just sat on their hands but in others...WOW! These congregations were really open to the spirit and miracles were happening all over. I'm not even going to go into it much because most won't believe it. I really do believe something like this needs to be experienced first hand. All things are possible with God, so we're told, but to actually feel it, see it and touch it is another matter. The thinking logical side of us wants to say, "I'll believe it when I see it." Perhaps our prayer should be, "I'll believe it and then see it because God can do all things." At churches all across the country, do we miss out of the gifts of the spirit because we are afraid of what God can and will do or is it we just don't open ourselves to the possibility of miracles because that is all we know? It makes me think back to a friend who was dying. Her church family went over to her house and prayed for her many, many times. But since the church wasn't into expressing all the gifts of the spirit and not used to God using them to the fullest when it came to things like healing, maybe it might have changed things...or maybe it was just her time to go back with the Lord. But it makes me wonder? What do you think?
