So what's going on with the JD Hayword vs. John McCain primary race?

Right now John McCain is way ahead in the polls. It's a tough race between two career politicians in an anti incumbent year. McCain can be conservative but not usually. JD  would be more of a "consistent conservative" as he likes to call himself. So what's the problem with JD? Well, JD was the host of an afternoon drive time show. Before he was pulled off the air he told everyone in his audience that he was "considering" a run for office and then when about being critical of John McCain.  Now as a talk show host, he had every right to say this. But as a potential candidate, he should have not commented on McCain or not announced that he was a potential candidate. In any event, it showed JD might be of questionable character. You tie this in with McCain's ad campaign showing JD working as a TV infommercial pitchman and his big spending ways in congress and all of a sudden McCain's TV commercial theme of "Character Matters" hits home. Especially since McCain has outspent JD ten to one. So this will be a classic race of picking the one you dislike the least.  In this case, JD's negatives are greater than McCain's and that is why McCain will win in the primary and go on  to win against his underfunded Democratic challenger.
