First off, I'd like to say I think you will not find two nicer people than Tim and Mary Pawlenty. What are the chances for Tim to be president? His national profile is rising however, there are still way too many people who don't know who he is. The second consideration is always, "can he raise the money?" I don't know if he can raise enough money for a serious run. I do know that Tim is an exceptionally gifted communicator. He relates well to people. I would not say he was a staunch conservative. He's pretty conservative but I'm sure it won't be enough for some of the people in his party. Tim will go against the party line and do what he needs to do to get things done. He's very similar to John McCain in that respect. Given the political atmosphere, I would say this is not his time. But we have a long ways to go and stranger things have happened. If the stars align to the point where a compromise candidate is needed as a unifying force, he may be just the ticket. But my gut tells me, not this time.
