Image via WikipediaWent to a pet adoption fair where they had 60 different groups of "pet rescue" organizations all there with their dogs. Lots of pit bulls, rat dogs, and pugs. Ran into some chow mix puppies that were fun but they would be a 40-50 lb. dog where they grew up. Some of the dogs were pathetic, afraid of anything and everything. Sorry but I don't want a "special needs" dog. They did have a two year old Shih Tzu that I liked. But pure Shih Tzu's are bigger than our Shih Tzu mix dogs we used to own and they are very quite dogs. I would have liked to have got him but he was more than we were willing to spend. I'm finding out that all these "rescue" dogs are $100 to $200. Although, I'm finding that the longer they are in a shelter, the price will go down to $50.
The fair also had a place that rescue's horses, one for rabbits and one for rats. Now who and the heck would care to rescue a rat? What's next cockroaches? My nephew lives next to a house that really is a "cat house". You know, one of those people who go crazy and have 100 cats in the house. Normally she'd be a crazy cat lady who's house would be raided. But because she "rescues" cats she gets a free pass on the 100 cats in one house thing. Pretty sad because you can smell that house miles away.
