2. Include Meta Tags which are key words and descriptions
3. Relevant content is KING. The robots or spiders can't search what isn't there
4. Backlinks are your friends which prove relevance to Google
For example, most photographers have a Flash website were they show picture after picture. These web sites look great and are...flashy. Problem is, there isn't enough written copy for the robots to search them. The perfect photo blog would be one that mixes in lots of copy with photos.
Now backlinks are underlined words that when clicked on, sends the reader to that particular web page. Putting a backlink into someone elses written article is like being "friended" on Facebook. It shows Google that others like your site and you have a following.
Three notes. 1-if you have a new web site, it will take 2-3 months for you to have enough history to be recognized by Google. 2-Everyone thinks if they have a shopping page full of links they are going to get rich. Sorry to rain on your parade but those are called "link farms" and you will never get a good page rank or placement on Google. 3-If you have a good shopping site, keep in mind, of all the people that visit your site, only 3-5 percent will actually become a customer.
Now with that in mind, I'm going to leave a backlink to my photo web page because it will give you an example of what I'm talking about and give me
a backlink to my company. Show Biz Photo
By the way the photo above has the founders of Google, Sergey Brin and Larry Page.
