Cover of Superman/Batman Vol. 1: Public EnemiesI don't know how old I was at the time. Pretty young I would say I was around 9-10 years old or younger. I grew up reading comic books (mainly Superman and Batman) and on the back page they always had an ad were they had all these cool things you could earn if you sold a box of Christmas cards. They had a BB gun that I liked so I mailed in the entry form and sure enough, I got a big box of Christmas cards to sell. Well those cards sat in the box for some time until one day, I got sick of looking at them so I grabbed the box to hit up my neighbors. Well, it just so happened it was a very very cold day in Minnesota. I'm sure I had frozen snot on my cheek. I was sacred to death knocking on doors. But I was happy how nice people were to a neighborhood kid selling crap who was freezing on their doorstep. Everyone invited me in to warm up and bought a packet of cards. Much to my surprise, I didn't even make it all the way around the block and I had sold all my cards, it was actually easy. It didn't take long and I was the new owner of a Daisy BB pistol. So what was my life lesson from this? Sales is very easy when you are a frightened frozen kid wanting to shoot up the neighborhood.
