The Political Climate of AZ
Arizona, for the most part, is a Republican state. With all the goofy Californians out here, it has changed somewhat. The GOP has lost seats in the Senate and the House but are still in the majority. We have a Democratic governor thanks to all the Republican scandals surrounding previous administrations. Yes, John McCain is very popular here but it's his home state and that is to be expected. The reality check for him is that he doesn't have much money and he is a RINO (Republican in name only). He does not have the support of many conservatives in this state and probably not on the left either but then that goes without saying. Will he get the nomination? Who knows. Sometimes people get the nomination as a reward for being a long time loyal member of the party even if they don't deserve it. Here's my best guess, even though New York Rudy is a social liberal I think he's got the best shot at getting the nomination just because people hate Hillary Clinton so much they may go for Rudy thinking he's the only one that can defeat her. Of course my person favorite is Newt Gingrich. Another interesting aspect of the race for the GOP is the Mormon in the race, Mit Romney. If all the Mormons vote for him, he has a huge voting block. Secondly, I think you'll see the media pull out all the stops to make Mormonism a mainstream religion on a par with Christianity. Now if the left attacks him for his ancestors having multiple wives that would really be bizzare conisdering the left wants the definition of family to be something other than one man and one wife.
